A policeman was yesterday charged in court with soliciting a bribe from a suspect.
Corporal Edward Odhiambo allegedly received Sh12,000 bribe from Ngoma Musa on
May 12
last year at Central police station.
The bribe was paid to secure the release of Iddi Yusuf, a Tanzanian.
Yusuf was arrested for being in the country without valid documents from the immigration department and was remanded at the police station.
Odhiambo denied the charge.
Defence lawyer Jared Magolo asked the court
to free Odhiambo on bond, saying he is a Kenyan and is stilling serving as a police officer.
Odhiambo was released on Sh100,000 bond or Sh50,000 bail.
The case will be mentioned on
March 16.
