Lamu residents have been asked to cooperate with police to ensure security.

Speaking to the Star at Lamu Island on Sunday, acting county commissioner Fredrick Ndambuki said residents have a role to play.

He urged them to report any suspicious activities.

Ndambuki urged Lamu residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi for their safety.

“People should not worry. Security officers are on high alert in Lamu,” he said.

“Volunteer information, however trivial, that will help identify criminals.”

The commissioner urged the youth to avoid drugs and illicit sexual behaviour.

He said young people should direct their efforts at building the county.

“It’s a time for all to think of ways to better their lives... Make wise decisions and re-direct your energy to better things,” Ndambuki said.

Hindi division deputy county commissioner Stanley Mutua asked youth to avoid chaos.

He urged them to preach and maintain peace.

Mutua said residents should work with the police to prevent crime.
