SUPREMACY battles are raging at the Coast as governors, senators and MPS attempt to sideline TNA bigwigs including nominated senator Emma Mbura to win favours from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Efforts by TNA Coast Secretary General Patrick Kabundu to bring together 300 Kaya elders from all nine tribes last weekend to support President Uhuru’s reign caused jitters among the Coast leaders.

The elders were hosted for a night party at Seafront Club in Nyali Bridge in Mombasa by Kabundu. The Kaya elders conducted traditional rituals to sanctify Coast TNA nominated Senator Emma Mbura.

A source said the elders signed a MoU in support of President Uhuru through Ambodze na Matsezi association that will be chaired by Anthony Chome.

"We have entered into this MoU to correct the wrongs done by our own leaders. They misled the residents by alleging that President Uhuru is a land grabber and a tribalist giving Cord the votes,” said Chome.

Kilifi and Mombasa’s governor Jeffa Kingi and Hassan Joho respectively asked Uhuru to work with the whole of the Coast top leadership instead of one person during a state luncheon held in Mombasa.

"Cord has no moral authority to advise the President on whom to work with,” Emma told the Star. Emma praised the Jubilee government for recognising the Mijikenda community by nominating her to the Senate.

“President Uhuru has reinstated the glory of Mijikenda women since the death of Mekatilili wa Menza,” said Emma. Earlier on Mombasa governor Hassan Joho had refused to attend a State House luncheon after an invitation was sent to him through the county commissioners' office saying it should have been sent through the Office of the President.

It is alleged that all Cord leaders who attended President Uhuru's luncheon immediately joined Cord leader Raila Odinga secretly at a top hotel in Nyali. That move left many wondering whether these leaders were genuinely ready to work with President Uhuru.
