MIJIKENDA Kaya elders have attributed the low voter registration turn out in Kwale to threats and intimidation by MRC. Speaking to residents yesterday, the elders expressed disappointment in the low numbers who turned out to register.
KayMRC to blame for poor voter registration in Kwale-Kaya eldersa chairman Abdala MnyenzeHe termed those who failed to register as “the greatest enemies of development”. He said they squandered their chance at positive change brought by electing good leaders and have no one else to blame for whatever befalls them in coming years.
“Please know that elections will be held whether you registered or not and you will regret as you sit back and watch other people electing leaders for you," he said.
MRC had warned people against registering as voters. The group had gone to court to stop IEBC from holding elections in the coastal strip.
