Night guard killed at Lare primary school

Learning at Lare Primary School in Lari constituency in Kiambu was paralysed on Monday morning after a night guard was found dead. 

According to reports, the night guard died after being hit on the head with a blunt object and left near the school’s kitchen.

Lari subcounty director of education Omari Borura asked the school to release the pupils to go home after the incident.

Borura said the police had launched investigations into the matter.

He said the school’s BOM will inform the parents when pupils will return to school.  

“There is no learning that can take place today, in this kind of situation. It is really disturbing,” he said.

Area MCA Josphat Kinyanjui condemned the incident, saying a computer, laptops and other items from the head teacher’s office and the store had been stolen.

He asked the police to construct a police post on public land in the village.

Kinyanjui said insecurity cases had been reported in the area, saying a lot of effort needs to be done between the community and the police.

“We are ready to assist the police to improve security. We should not blame anyone, we should work together,” he said.

Lari DCI Eunice Maingi confirmed the incident saying they had launched investigations, urging anyone with any information regarding the incident to report it to them.

His body was taken to the mortuary.
