Agano party presidential candidate David Mwaure on Thursday campaigned in Murang’a county and hit out at the Jubilee administration for poor leadership.

Mwaure said the country is suffering because of mismanagement and he pledged to change that if elected.

The country, he said, has not had leadership that cares for its people.

“We are suffering because we have not had good shepherds. This country is not poor, it is endowed with vast resources,” he said.

He said countries like Singapore and South Korea were at some point at per with Kenya yet they are now well developed while Kenya lags behind.

Good leadership, he said, should look into issues affecting the people and establish ways to alleviate their suffering.

He said he has an anti-graft manifesto as his main priority and wants to seal loopholes that have been used to siphon money.

“I am a lawyer and pastor and I have realised our main challenge is that our leaders ate so much that they ate even the seeds and that is why we are here,” he said.

He said former Auditor General Edward Ouko said the country had Sh215 billion sourced from the Eurobond that could not be traced.

Mwaure noted that he is the only candidate that has a practical framework of how he will source for development funds.

He said his administration will ensure all the money in foreign accounts will be repatriated and used to strengthen the economy.

He wondered why two of his competitors who have worked with the current government did not help to root out corruption and yet they want to be elected.

“I will bring our development money back. I will stop the siphoning of the Sh2 billion and get our money from those who stole through Eurobond, Anglo-leasing and National Youth Service and they should tell us who are the Kemsa billionaires,” he said.

“I am bringing a different kind of leadership. So much is at stake in this elections. Kenyans have been wondering why the same people who lied to them are still vying."

He said he has already written to Cayman Island, United States, England, Switzerland and Mauritius, where money is allegedly stashed and asked them to send it back.

“If the construction of 11,000 kilometres of roads done by the Jubilee government cost Sh1.5 trillion, what would we achieve if we recovered the stolen money? We would transform it,” he said.

He explained his 12-point manifesto that seeks to provide free education, free health care and a budgetary allocation of up to 40 per cent for counties.

But he said the solution to most challenges facing the country is to get rid of all leaders incriminated in graft and bring in fresh leadership.

Immediately after election, he said his administration will also provide subsidised maize meal, an idea that he said the government copied from his manifesto.

“I will be a president who will rid the country of corruption. We are in a state of emergency. Our nation is broke yet it is so endowed with resources," he said.

"I am an anti-corruption crusader. This country has been brought to its knees by graft."
