ODM leader Raila Odinga has been widely urged to choose a running mate from Central Kenya.

Kanu's Kiambu chairman David Mbiu asked the ODM leader to consider former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth the for post. Kenneth, or PK as he is known, is considered to be a frontrunner.

“Business is not as usual as it used to be in Central. Today we are discussing Raila. He has so many more supporters there than before” he said.

“All we want is that his running mate has come from the Mountain. He or she is supposed to be a person who is known, respected, approachable. He or she must be a person who had worked with the government and has never been involved in any form of corruption, just like Peter Kenneth” he said.

He spoke in Limuru town on Saturday.

Mbiu condemned the violence in different parts of the country, asking the government to come up with a strategy of controlling it.

“Last week we witnessed commotion when an MP aspirant was chased by youths in Limuru from a meeting, and also how DP William Ruto was heckled at Kondole, in Nyanza,” he said.

The Kanu official warned that violence might erupt with early campaigns if proper investigations and actions are not taken against leaders' words, insults, propaganda and other issues inciting each other’s supporters.

“The government should investigate and work seriously on dealng with the the perpetrators” Mbiu added.
