Mathira CDF boss released on Sh1m cash bail in Sh27m fraud case

Wahome denied conspiring to defraud the Nyeri County Government of Sh27 million.

Mathira CDF Manager William Mwangi Wahome has been released on a cash bail of Sh1 million after he denied conspiring to defraud the Nyeri County Government of Sh27 million.

Wahome and eight others were summoned to appear in court Tuesday to face charges of corruption and economic crimes.

Together with Anne Nduta, they also have the option of a Sh2 million bond.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who is the first accused person in the case pled to the charges last week and managed to secure his release after processing a cash bail of Sh12million.

Gachagua, Wahome and the other accused persons were jointly charged with a conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption.

David Reuben and Rapid Medical Supplies Limited who faced a charge of fraudulent acquisition of property were granted a bond of Sh 2million or cash bail of Sh1.5 million.

The other accused persons- Julianne Makaa, Samuel Murimi, Grace Wambui, Lawrence Kimaru and Irene Wambui- were granted a bond of Sh1 million or a cash bail of Sh500,000.

Magistrate Rose Makhungu directed the accused persons to be remanded at Gigiri Police Station to allow them process their bail terms.
