A form two orphaned student in Embu committed suicide by hanging on Tuesday as she prepared for school.
The girl went to the bathroom and upon staying there for a long time, raised suspicion, upon which relatives went to check on her.
The door was broken and she was found hanging from a lesso.
Area chief Kivaru Kaumbuthu said he was informed about the death.
He said the girl was reported to have been in good terms with relatives and the cause of the suicide was unknown.
A neighbour urged children to share problems with relatives to help them solve them.
The body was taken to Tenri Ena Hospital mortuary.
