The car, driven by a woman, was overtaking a lorry when it hit the side of an oncoming Fr Joseph Baldo Schools bus at Kirathimo near Brookside Dairies on the Ol Kalou-Kinangop Road.

Nyandarua South deputy county commissioner Peter Karanja said the woman, who had a child, was headed to Ol Kalou while the bus was en route to Engineer town.

Apart from the driver, the bus had a matron and two schoolchildren.

Karanja said the woman was overtaking a lorry 2km from Engineer when the accident happened.

“She hit the bus on the driver’s side and both (vehicles) veered off the road. The saloon was extensively damaged. There were no fatalities,” he said.

Residents asked the government to instal speed bumps at Kirathimo where there have been a number of accidents.
