More wards need to be built at Maragua Subcounty Rural Hospital, officer in charge of medical services Dr Stephen Ngigi has said.
Yesterday, he said the hospital needs to be expanded urgently to accommodate in and out patients.
Ngigi said the hospital receives almost 500 patients per day and handles 160 surgeries every month.
He appealed to the national and county governments to provide resources for the expansion. “We have 12 acres that can be utilised for this expansion,” Ngigi said.
He said there is a master plan which includes expansion.
He commended the national and county governments for providing screening machines.
Most cases reported at the hospital involve noncommunicable ailments including strokes, high blood pressure and cancer.
