Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has fired a chief and his assistant in Murang’a county for underperformance.

He said Peter Muhia his assistant Mary Wanjiru failed to carry out assigned duties.

Kibicho told county commissioner Kula Hache to ensure the two return their uniforms and other government items.

He said four other chiefs will face a disciplinary committee.

Patrick Mwande, Stephen Kihara, John Njoroge and Hasad Mute have been accused of laxity, abetting crime and allowing the sale of illicit brews.

“The government will not spare administrators who abet crime and are not putting enough effort into eradicating consumption of illicit brews,” Kibicho said.

Administrators who work with illicit liquor manufacturers will be arrested, he said.

Kibicho spoke at Maragua shopping centre on Friday.

He urged chiefs and their assistants to seek support from their seniors to eliminate illicit brews.

“I want to thank Murang’a residents for supporting the war against illicit brews. More than 2 million litres of second generation brews were destroyed last year with their help,” Kibicho said.
