A 64-year-old prominent businesswoman was found murdered

in front of her gate Muthaiga estate in Nanyuki town yesterday.

Priscilla Waithira of Prisheran Funeral Service was allegedly killed by her 22-year-old boyfriend on Saturday night.

Caretaker Jaldesa Guyo said

he heard the gate being knocked three times at around 11pm, something that rarely happens.

When he went out, he found Waithera's boyfriend, whom he identified as Tony Kiplagat, beside her vehicle.

“He opened the boot of the car and told me to check what was inside and I found it was my employer. Holding a machete, he told me not to tell anybody,” Guyo said.

It is then that he picked the lifeless body and dumped it near the house and covered it with a sheet, the caretaker said.

He said Waithera and Kiplagat had dated for two months.

Guyo added that the boyfriend instructed him to enter the main house and said that everything inside the belongs to him.

“He ordered me to choose what I wanted in the house. He took a map of the house and said that was money. Because he was threatening me with the machete, I told him I wanted a gas cylinder just to save my life,” the seemingly trembling caretaker said.

Guyo added that Kiplagat said they would go to Nanyuki town and he would buy him drinks and pay for him for services of a prostitute.

Guyo managed to flee and hid at a neighbour’s house where they called police officers.

Kiplagat, who is a neighbour, fled with Waithera's mobile phone and the vehicle.

The vehicle was found yesterday morning at Kibirigwi in Kirinyaga county.

The phone was still on and the suspect was said to be communicating with some people before it was switched off.

Police officers took Waithera's body to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
