THE national government should punish the Maasai leaders who incited their community to violence at Kedong ranch, a land buying company has said.
Two elderly men were killed in January when violence broke out at the 22,000-acre farm in Naivasha after a court ruling in Utheri wa Lari’s favour.
Meeting Maasai leaders in Mai Mahiu last Wednesday, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi called for a peaceful solution.
“Utheri members bought the land in 1974 and they belong to Kiambu county,” he said.
Present were Senators Stephen Ntutu of Narok and Kajiado’s Peter Mositet and Narok East MP Lemanken Aramat.
Utheri’s members will hold a prayer meeting at the ranch tomorrow to “cleanse” it, chairman Stephen Muiru said.
