Parents of the primary school that scored the lowest in Kiambu in last year’s KCPE exams have been urged to encourage their children.

Lari MP Mburu Kahangara told Gitithia Primary School parents to see their children achieve better marks.

He introduced new head teacher Stephen Nding’uri, who was ranked the best in the constituency last year.

Kahangara urged teachers and parents to support him.

He said his office has laid down procedures to ensure each pupil performs well.

Kahangara was speaking during the school’s prize-giving day on Monday.

In the 1990s, the school used to lead in the district, which is now a county, he said.

“In 2013, the school was ranked last in the county. Last year, there was a slight improvement but the marks were not very good,” Kahangara said.

Lari deputy county commissioner Benard Kinyua ordered chiefs and assistants chiefs to ensure all children attend school.
