The planned doctors in Nyamira failed to start on Monday as expected.
The doctors had threatened to go on strike to demand promotions.
Nyamira Health executive Douglas Bosire told the Star that the doctors are not on strike.
“There is no strike at all. We met on Friday with the KMPDU officials from Nyanza region and resolved the issue.”
A check by the Star at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital showed that services were being offered as usual.
Kenya Medical Pharmacists and Dentists Union officials had complained that no doctor has been promoted since 2017.
The doctors said the county government has failed to implement the 2017 collective bargaining agreement and has not responded to a letter dated July 7, 2020, asking that the promotions be effected.
"We have bought this issue before the governor but he appears to be buying time,” a statement from the officials that was released last week in Kisii county indicated.
However, on Friday last week, the KMPDU officials and Nyamira Health executive met and held talks on the matter.
