Trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) yesterday was halted for the starting 11.52 am all day following a technical hitch.
In a statement, NSE apologised to the general public stating that technical teams are working towards resolving the issue in the shortest time possible, with the intention to restore normal trading hours today.
‘’The NSE wishes to notify market participants, investors, key stakeholders and the general public that trading at the NSE has been temporarily halted due to a technical hitch which occurred on January 8, 2019 at 11.52 a.m,’’ NSE statement read.
NSE did not specify the hitch only stating that the anomaly affected trading of equities.
A common technical hitch at NSE normally occurs in the Central Depository System (CDS) database. The bourse last experienced this kind of hitch on October 1, 2018.
