Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said not all face masks in the market are suitable for use in fighting Covid-19.

The CS on Wednesday said only the approved masks should be used if it is necessary and that the government is now able to produce approved masks.

“Not all face masks that are made are worth anything… we now have capacity to make approved masks in the country,” Kagwe said.

There has been a rise in business people making African print, serviette masks among others.

He said Kikotec in Kitui is among the industries approved to produce face masks and that the country will continue to receive some as donations around the world.

Kagwe said that World Bank will approve Sh5 billion on Thursday to be used in the fight of the pandemic.

During the address, the CS urged Kenyans to be ready for stiffer measures that the government will take in order to prevent further infection.

The CS said that the purpose of the curfew is to limit social contact and not disable businesses.

"We have not stopped commerce because of the curfew. Food trucks are free to move in the evening," he said.

"Police have also been advised on the same."
