Defence Forces Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has urged the Kenya Defence Forces and the National Police Service to work in harmony.

He told the two security agencies to stop the violent confrontations recently witnessed.

"We are comrades, we are partners and we are brothers and sisters. We call on all of you to protect and defend our country. Secutiy will provide stability for social and economic development of our country," Duale said.

"I urge KDF officers, the police and the other security formations to focus on comradeship, unite our country and defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Duale spoke during the handing over of the Wanini Keriri Magereza Hospital to the Prison Service Department in Ruiru, Kiambu county.

He was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki

Kindiki said working together will build public confidence.

"We must build public trust and public confidence in order to secure our country and citizens," he said.

The level 4 facility was built by KDF and is expected to enhance access to quality health services to uniformed officers.

It is 150-bed capacity facility with two major theatres, two ICU beds, a maternity wing and a dental care unit.

Ruiru residents will be treated on referral basis.

Duale and Kindiki said the country is committed to ensure uniformed officers get the best quality medical services.

This will help them provide the best security services for social-economic development.

The facility will receive support in terms of personnel, training and equipment from KDF hospitals across the country.

Kindiki said many government facilities are in deplorable conditions, calling for proper maintenance.

"We cannot compromise on standards, including cleanliness. We have state-of-the-art equipment and we will add more. We must work towards maintaining the quality of the facility and also ensure services rendered are top notch," he said.

Ruiru MP Simon King'ara said the facility will decongest Ruiru Level 4 Hospital.
