Residents of a Naivasha estate are trying to come to terms with an incident where a man went berserk and stabbed his wife more than ten times leading to her death.

During the incident in the sprawling Kasarani estate in North Lake, the man tried to commit suicide using the same knife but he was rescued and admitted to Naivasha Subcounty Hospital in critical condition.

Emotions ran high as police moved in to collect the body that was soaked in blood with area residents baying for the blood of the suspect.

The couple in their late 20s and who worked on two different farms in the vast estate had fallen out after the woman learnt that the man was involved in another affair.

A witness, Alex Mbuthia said that trouble started over the weekend when the woman accused the man of being involved in an extra-marital affair.

“They had a fight over the weekend and neighbours managed to intervene but it seems that they did not resolve their differences,” he said.

He added that they were attracted by screams and on rushing to the house found the woman lying in a pool of blood before the man rushed to the bedroom and rocked himself up.

“In the bedroom, he attempted to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the chest and neck but police moved in and rescued him,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Stephen Kirui confirmed the incident, noting that the man was in stable condition and would be charged in court with murder.

“The woman died on the spot while the man is in hospital undergoing treatment after a botched suicide attempt and he will be charged in court once he recovers,” he said.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle operator died in the Ndabibi area of Naivasha after he was swept by floods while crossing a flooded section of a road.

The body still stuck in the motorcycle was recovered over five kilometres away by members of the public before police moved in to collect it.

The OCPD confirmed the incident while urging members of the public to keep off flooded sections as the rains continued to pound the region.

“We have lost another man to the rains and people should stop fighting nature by keeping off the flooded sections of roads,” Kirui said.
