DRAMA AT THE DEATH?

Arsenal target sixth win in a row in season-ending Everton clash

Arsenal’s 27th Premier League win of the season (against Manchester United on Sunday) is a club record in a 38-game season.

In Summary

• Get ready City fans because I cannot see Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and co letting the title slip through their fingers.

• Villa coach Unai Emery has done a remarkable job of rejuvenating this famous club and finishing fourth without the riches of Man City and Liverpool.

Arsenal v Everton

Make sure you have a comfortable seat on the sofa on Sunday afternoon (6 pm EAT) because that is when the matches kick off.

Sunday’s fixture saw Arsenal win at Manchester United which was considered to be the tricky banana skin.

Plunging on through an African-style thunderstorm, Arsenal proved once again that they can conjure up a result at any time and against any team.

A desperate defeat for Erik Ten Hag but applause for Mikel Arteta and his well-trained superstars.

Arsenal’s 27th Premier League win of the season is a club record in a 38-game season. Against Everton, Arteta’s backline of William Saliba and Gabriel Maghalaes will attempt to keep their 12th clean sheet of the season.

This will be Arsenal’s sixth win in a row and it is difficult to see back-to-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin breaking through this defence.

Everton are safe, being three places above the relegation zone and have little to achieve but Sean Dyche’s teams never give up easily. Arsenal hope to be unchanged for the sixth consecutive game.

Fans know that Manchester City have one hand on the trophy already but nothing will stop them from trying and in football anything can happen

Manchester City v West Ham

Get ready City fans because I cannot see Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and co letting the title slip through their fingers.

Erling Haaland will again start up-front having scored twice against Tottenham without being particularly influential throughout the game.

Rodri is set to rule the middle of the pack and Pep Guardiola, who never leaves anything to chance, has worked his players well in training without being too demanding in order to contain Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta in David Moyes’ final game as West Ham coach.

I just cannot see the Hammers defence of Kourt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna, Emerson Palmieri and Vladimir Coufal stopping Haaland, Phil Foden, De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva from running riot with the addition of Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish and even defender Josko Gvardiol chipping in with their contributions.

Guardiola and his team know that victory will give them a historic fourth title in a row and that is motivation enough for this superb team.

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa

It is a pity this match isn’t at Villa Park because they qualified for Champions League football in midweek when Tottenham lost to Man City.

The fans deserve their celebrations. Palace are one of the most-improved teams in the Premier League and although there is nothing much for them to play for, they will fight to the end.

Villa coach Unai Emery has done a remarkable job of rejuvenating this famous club and finishing fourth without the riches of Man City and Liverpool.

Ollie Watkins has secured his place in the England national team after scoring 19 goals this season and Leon Bailey is on a respectable 10 and Douglas Luiz on nine.

Villa’s last match, a 3-3 draw with Liverpool, proves for once and for all that they are ready to take their place in the big league and will be full of confidence for next season.

Brentford v Newcastle

Brentford started the season well and coach Thomas Frank was hopeful of better things.

A run of poor results found the Bees floundering in 16th place but with a healthy 10 points above Nottingham Forest and safe from relegation.

Training was as hard as ever this week which shows Brentford are not going down without a fight but in reality, they have little to play for.

Their talisman striker, Ivan Toney, has been out for much of the season and is likely to be playing his football somewhere else next season.

However, Frank says the club is looking for another striker and they will still have top scorer, Yoane Wissa (11 goals), Bryan Mbeumo (nine) and Mr Wind-up merchant Neal Maupay (six).

Newcastle’s Eddie Howe needs to win this game to stay ahead of Chelsea although they do have a superior goal difference. This week, Howe said his team were always being criticised for not being in the top four as they are the richest club in the world.

“Not true,” said Howe. Despite the club having a healthy bank balance, they do not have cash to spread around and have to pick new players carefully.

Alexander Isak will again be the main threat with his 20 goals this season and he is ably supported by Anthony Gordon (10) and Callum Wilson (nine).

Frank is yet another name in the frame for Erik Ten Hag’s job this summer. Owner Sir James Ratcliffe is a fan of the work and achievements of the Brentford coach this season.
