The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has said that the party will live beyond his existence.

Speaking on Saturday, Raila said the party has built strong leaders within its structures, who are strong and can it far beyond where it currently is.

He said Deputy party leaders Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, are among such leaders.

Raila, however, reminded the party members that the Orange party can only be as strong as the unity of its leadership.

"The ODM party has built strong individuals, Hassan Joho is strong, Wyclife Oparanya is strong and Governor Simba Arati is also strong. A strong ODM will only come through the unity of the leadership of ODM and we must help those who are down here.

"ODM must stand beyond the test of time, ODM will live beyond Baba. Even if Baba is not there ODM should be there and remain a strong political party. And this will only happen if you work together," Raila said.

He spoke in Suna East where he attended the coronation of Fredrick Owili as Ogayi of Seme. Raila was also the chief guest at the ceremony.

The Opposition leader further called on leaders within ODM who have been fueling fights over his succession to stop.

"Don't try to bring fights between these people If you see Joho, Oparanya or Simba, then you are seeing Baba."

Raila called on all elected leaders at all levels to respect one another, even as they discharge their duties.

He asked them to focus on working for the people who elected them, insisting that, that is how people will know ODM is a working party and it means business.

Since Raila expressed his intention to become the next African Union Commission chairperson, there have emerged succession battles from within his party.

Several factions have emerged all insisting they are ready to take the party forward.
