Three charged with obtaining Sh1.1m by false pretences

The alleged offence is believed to have been committed on diverse dates.

Three men have been charged before the Milimani Chief Magistrate's Court with obtaining money through false pretences.

Farah Osman Issack, Abdiakin Ismail Abdullahi and Godfrey Otieno Omwonyo alias Kasim were however released on Sh500,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount pending hearing and determination of the case.

They were also granted an alternative of Sh300,000 cash bail.

The three are accused of obtaining Sh1,184,670 from Ahmed Ali Mohammed by falsely pretending that they could import mobile phones.

The alleged offence is believed to have been committed on diverse dates between March 2, and March 9, at Eastleigh 12th Street at Kamukunji in Nairobi.

Two of the three men who were arrested on March 16, are also charged with being in possession of paper for forgery contrary to the law.

"Farah Osman Issack and Abdiakin Ismail Abdullahi on the 16th day of March 2024, at Manilla Lodge room number 113 in Eastleigh 12th Street, in Kamukunji Sub-County within Nairobi County, jointly you were found in possession of a pink travelling suitcase that contained papers resembling United States dollars (USD) for purposes of forgery," a charge sheet presented in court reads.

They denied the charges and requested Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina to grant them release on lenient bail terms.

The matter will be mentioned on April 8.
