A man has died after he was crushed to death by a perimeter wall in Athi River, Machakos County.

Elvis Mutuku, 27, died on the spot after the wall he was removing scrap metals from collapsed on him in the Sabaki area within the Athi River South subcounty on Friday.

The incident was reported to Athi River police station as a sudden death incident report at 4.05 pm.

Police said the incident was reported to the station by a member of the community policing from Sabaki village where the incident occurred.

"It was reported by a member of community policing in Sabaki area that there was someone who had been crashed but a concrete wall adjacent to Shell petrol station Sabaki," a police report seen by the Star read in part.

Police said officers from the station accompanied by the DCI team and CSI personnel rushed to the scene and established that the deceased namely Elvis Mutuku, 27, was removing steel rods from the concrete wall which collapsed and fell on him.

He died on the spot.

Police recovered a hacksaw the deceased was using and already cut steel rods at the scene.

The scenes of crimes personnel processed the scene and the body was removed to Shalom Community hospital mortuary, Athi River awaiting an autopsy.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives attached to Athi River police station have launched probe into the incident.
