Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has exuded confidence that his party will form the next government in 2027.

Kalonzo spoke when he addressed Tseikuru residents in Kitui County on Thursday.

The Azimio co-principal said he would ensure stalled projects in the county are completed.

"I informed them that I would follow up on the blocked projects alongside local leaders, including the county governor," Kalonzo said.

"I also encouraged them to continue supporting the Wiper Party which will form the next government in 2027."

He said that the residents had raised the problem of stalled infrastructure projects, such as roads and dams.

The Wiper leader was in the county to visit the family of his former assistant Katu Munuvi who passed on earlier in the week.

Kalonzo eulogised him as a wonderful man and very dedicated to his craft.

"I respected and relied on him. I assured Munuvi's family of my continued commitment to them not just during the mourning period, but beyond. May Katu Munuvi rest in peace," Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo is not new to politics as his political journey is traced back to the 90's.

He was the tenth Vice-President of Kenya from 2008 to 2013.

Kalonzo has served in the former Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki's regime in various positions.

He was the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1993 until 1998, Minister of Education (1998-2001) and subsequently, under the late President Kibaki as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2004.

Kalonzo then became the Minister of the Environment from 2004 to 2005.

He unsuccessfully vied as a candidate in the 2007 presidential election, after which he was appointed Vice President by Kibaki in January 2008.

Kalonzo is the party leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement (formerly Orange Democratic Movement-Kenya).

In the race for the fourth president of Kenya, Kalonzo joined his longtime political opponent Azimio leader Raila Odinga to form the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).

Kalonzo became Raila's running mate.

When the first round of the presidential election took place in 2013, former President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the president-elect.

In 2017, Kalonzo once again joined Raila to form the National Super Alliance to oppose President Kenyatta and then Deputy President William Ruto.

Kalonzo ran under Raila as his running mate.

In the 2022 elections, Kalonzo announced that he would vie for the presidency; he, however, dropped his bid and supported Azimio la Umoja candidate Raila.
