Kenya's top designer John Kaveke is still hopeful that he will be attending the London Fashion Week even after the British High Commission denied him a visa into the UK. “I really don’t know the reason behind them denying me a visa but I guess they assumed I would not come back. There however is a very big probability of me going as we are still negotiating ; I’m still hopeful that I will accompany my work to London,” Kaveke told Word Is on Friday evening at the Panafric Hotel in Nairobi where he unveiled some of his Askari Kanga-inspired collection.
London Fashion Week, which will take place on September 16-21, is among the four most important events on the international fashion calendar, the others being New York, Milan and Paris fashion weeks. Kaveke's team includes Eddie Kirindo, head stylist, Connie Aluoch, who will also be going to London as the fashion stylist heading PR, Emmanuel Jambo, head photographer and Muthoni Njoba, head makeup artist.
