AFC Leopards are targeting to raise Sh6m in today’s fundraiser set for Egloos Lounge on Mombasa Road. Leopards acting secretary general Duncan Angode said they hope to raise the amount to enable the club purchase a 40-seater bus for the team. The ceremony under the banner ‘Ingwe Nite’ will see the 36 registered branches of the club compete in the ‘Battle of Branches’ for the highest contributor’s honours.
The entry fee will be Sh200 per person with all proceeds going towards the bus kitty. Angode said this will be a mini fund-raiser with the main harambee set for March 2 at 680 hotel. Other activities lined up as a build-up to the main event include an exhibition friendly football match, an open golf tournament and a celebrity fashion show. There will also be the sale of branded Ingwe bus t-shirts retailing at Sh1,000 each.
The branches are required to raise a minimum of Sh50,000 each towards the project. Revelers will be treated to live entertainment headlined by the popular Webuye Jua Kali Band. Other troupes lined up include Phonetics Band of Mukangala Fame, Sila Wa Sila, African Jazz Band, Nyengese Comedy Troupe and Imbulu Isukutu Troupe of Ainea Mukaisi. Actor Papa Shirandula will be the MC alongside Ayuma Kipsuto.
