Adaka keen to catapult Buffaloes to Super Series win

The tournament kickoffS on May 4 with Buffalo vs Cheetahs at 2pm and Lions facing Rhinos at 4pm at KCB Sports Club.

Buffalo franchise head coach Max Adaka has set his sights on winning the Super Series next month.

Adaka, who is the Kabras forwards' coach said the side will start training this week.

The side is made up of players from champions Kabras, Masinde Muliro University, Western Bulls and Catholic University Monks.

" I have already contacted the coaches of the other clubs to bring their players for training this week,"  added Adaka

The former Kenya Simbas international said with a short training period remaining before the first game on May 4, It will be a crash course training period to ensure the players are aligned with his philosophy.

"There is a certain brand of rugby we want to play for the championship.  In the next fortnight, we will work on several aspects of the game to ensure we are in good shape," he noted.

He expects a competitive championship from the rest of the franchises in the tournament.

"This competition returns after a ten-year break so most of the players will be new and the coaches are going to be here for the first time. This is going to be interesting," noted Adaka.

He will be assisted by Kabras coaches Felix Ayange and Edwin Achayo.

The Cheetahs franchise based in Nakuru will have Oilers forwards' coach Lawrence Buyachi as the head coach assisted by Simon Wariuki.

It will feature players from Oilers, Impala, Nakuru RFC, University of Eldoret, Homeboyz and Kabarak University.

Former KCB lock and international Oliver Mangeni will take charge of the Lions' franchise and will be assisted by Blak Blad coach Bernard Kibet.

The side will be composed of players from KCB, Blak Blad, Mwamba, South Coast Pirates and USIU Martials.

Quins' coach Paul Murunga, a three-time winner of the competition, will be in charge of the Rhinos side which brings together players from Nondies, Strathmore  Leos, Daystar University and Mean Machine. Nondies coach Callum Oliver will be the assistant. 

The tournament kicks off on May 4 with the Buffalo vs Cheetahs match at and the Lions facing Rhinos at 4 pm at KCB  Sports Club.

On May 11, Buffaloes take on Rhinos while Cheetahs have a date with Lions at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

A week later, Rhinos take on Cheetahs as Buffaloes take on Lions in Kakamega.  The top two teams will advance to the final, while the remaining two will compete for the last two positions at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi.
