Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry says he is not under the pump to deliver the Kenyan Premier League title this season.

In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, McKinstry implored his charges to ignore external pressure and stay calm as the cutthroat top-tier competition enters the homestretch.

"I know many people believe we are under a lot of pressure at the moment but that's far from the reality of the real situation in our camp. We just want to have fun in our remaining matches," McKinstry remarked.

His remarks come a couple of days after he guided his side to a hard-fought 1-0 win over arch-rivals AFC Leopards at Nyayo stadium on Sunday.

The outcome fired K'Ogalo to 57 points, enabling them to open a comfortable nine-point lead on their closest challengers Kenya Police FC.

"We are taking another step forward. Police FC is striving to keep up with us, behind by nine points after defeating Sofapaka. We just need to keep earning up those points, that is the key for us. We know what our goals are, what we want, and I believe we have 69 points currently," McKinstry stated.

K'Ogalo must hammer away tirelessly in their remaining matches to fend off vicious challenges from Muhoroni Youth and Shabana FC who are both staring at relegation.

They also have fixtures against  Talanta and Murang’a Seal.

"Hard games are on the horizon. We are taking on clubs battling for promotion and those in the middle of the table, who can be challenging since they have nothing to lose," McKinstry stated.

"For instance, I anticipate a difficult encounter against Murang'a Seal, but we must continue to play and prevail," he added.

McKinstry said he intends to prepare his players a lot more.

"The FKF Cup gives us two weeks, so we'll use that time to bring the boys back together and prepare for the next game," he said.
