Amina Martha beat Botswana's Phekie Bele on points in the bantamweight quarter-finals to reach the last four in the African Games in Accra on Monday.

Amina will now face Nigeria's Shurukat Kareem, who won her bout against 2022 Africa champion Sarah Haghighat-Joo of Sierra Leone.

With her progress,  Amina is assured of a medal irrespective of the results in the semi-finals. Amina had indicated that she would take one step at a time but was hopeful of going all the way to the final.

Coach Benjamin Musa equally said the boxer had shown a lot of promise and they were hopeful she would win a medal.

Musa believes the country’s women's boxing standards were growing fast and with support, they would do wonders.
