Wakanda not at their best despite winning three out of four games

Wakanda are not up to their best yet despite winning three of their four weekend Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league matches, coach Fenwick Opicho has said.

“We already started games this side and we are waiting for county games this coming Thursday. The boys are still not at their best but there are notable improvements,” he said.

It was a fruitful weekend for Wakanda as they won three of their four league matches at Nyayo Stadium over the weekend.

They beat Young City 37-27 in a game that saw Felix Okoth score seven goals and Dickson Manyanga add six.

In their next fixture, Wakanda did enough to pin down Nanyuki 33-31 as Ismael hit the target eight times.

Thirteen goals from Amos Okwakwao were enough to see his Daystar University side claw back to draw 37-37 against Desert Scorpions.

Nanyuki on the other hand, drubbed Randy Ochieng’s Buccaneers 36-28 as Desmond Kipkoech was unstoppable and led the scoring chart with 15 goals.

Inspired blanked Spartan 42-26 in the week’s highest-scoring game. Augustine Ringi was good for 15 goals for the winners.

In their other match, Lewis Matimbo scored 13 goals for Inspired as they came back to force a 32-32 draw against Wakanda.

Black Mamba recovered from last week’s loss to beat Daystar University 29-20 as Eterus Koech nailed 12 goals. Timothy Wanyila and Edward Wanyonyi had 10 goals each as Hunters dismissed Jkuat 42-30.

In the women’s ties, Kenyatta University won the varsity duel hitting Daystar University 24-18 as Doris Odende shot eight goals.

Rising Stars dimmed New Hope 45-26 behind a game-high 16 goals from Dorcas Weiya game. Khamala Lucy and Atsachi Silah made nine each.
