World hammer throw champion Ethan Katzberg hammered his way to victory at the fifth edition of the Absa Kip Keino Classic with a throw of 84.38m at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.

In second place was Mykhaylo Kokhan of Ukraine with a season’s best of 80.76m as last year’s winner, Wojciech Nowicki of Poland, finished third with 79.14m.

Katzberg, who was competing for the second time at this World Continental Tour Gold event, said the excellent results build his charge for the Olympic title at this summer’s games in Paris, France.

“I found my groove during the competition I enjoyed. I hope to keep the rhythm as I prepare for the Olympics,” the Commonwealth Games silver medalist said.
