KPA keen to stay in the hunt at African show

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will seek to extend their fine run when they battle VGR of Cote d'Ivoire this afternoon at the Africa Club Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

On Tuesday, KPA thrashed GBV of Zambia 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-12) in a Pool 'D' match at the Al Ahly Hall.

It was KPA's second win in three matches. They fell 3-1 (...) to Cameroon's Port Autonome De Dociala in the opening match on Sunday before recovering on Monday, thrashing UZW from Zimbabwe 3-1 (25-13, 25-14, 25-27, 25-18).

Equity Bank face FUS of Morocco in a Pool 'A' match while in Pool C, Kenya Prisons will take on ASW from Algeria.

Prisons will also hope to keep their fire burning following a 3-0 win over  Rwanda's GVC on Monday.

Equity Bank captain Wilson Cheruiyot emphasised the importance of flawless service, reception and blocks.

"The service, reception and blocks were key. We've improved in those areas. I'm sure we will do our best going forward," said Cheruiyot.

Equity target to upgrade their 10-place finish in 2022.

"We finished 10th in Tunisia in 2022 and our target is to climb up the standings," he elaborated. "We aim to finish top or second in the group for a slot in the quarterfinal."
