Pastor Dorcas Rigathi shared a glimpse into her love story with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, offering a valuable tip to young men based on her experience.
Speaking during an interfaith service at Kenyatta University, the wife of the Deputy President revealed that their first encounter took place in the 1980s.
Dorcas shared a crucial tip that caught her interest from their initial meeting in June 1987, noting his well-dressed appearance in a brown suit caught her attention.
"I didn't pay much attention but I thought he was interesting. So young men please dress well always," Dorcas advised.
At the time, Gachagua served as the Chairman of the Nyeri District Students Union at the University of Nairobi and had visited Kenyatta University to register students who would visit then-President Daniel Arap Moi’s home in Kabarnet.
According to Dorcas, the attraction was mutual as Riggy G also took notice of her and decided to pursue her. However, the pursuit wasn't easy, lasting several months as Dorcas evaded Riggy G's advances, changing hostels whenever he was around.
"I used to stay at Ruwenzori, and whenever he came looking for me, I would change hostels just to avoid him. I gave him a hard time for like six months, trying to evade him because I had not decided yet," Dorcas humorously recounted to the students.
Despite the challenges, Riggy G persisted in his pursuit, and when Dorcas finally relented, their love story culminated in marriage.
The relationship between the two has blossomed since then with evidence of their beautiful marriage being shown in how the two speak of each other in public.
A few months back, in February 2024, Dorcas celebrated the father of her 2 kids in a hearty birthday on social media by expressing admiration for him as an 'extraordinary man'.
"Happy Birthday to My extraordinary man, husband, companion, and friend. You are the pillar and a covering of our family. You take everything in stride and are truthful to a fault. Kevin, Keith, and I celebrate the wonderful gift of your life. You are the best father and husband. May the Lord grant you favour, long life, and overflowing blessings. May He fulfill every desire of your heart. With all my love Dorcas," she concluded.
