Foreigner arrested in connection to drug trafficking

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a Nigerian citizen in connection to claims of drug trafficking.

The suspect is alleged to have been found with 200g of cocaine approximated at Sh600,000 in street value.

DCI says the arrest of the suspect followed an intelligence-led operation that saw police raid his rental house located in the Utange-Kisauni area.

"Search conducted in the house saw the seizure of the white powdery crack discreetly wrapped in a polythene bag inside a drawer in his bedroom," DCI said.

The DCI said that presumptive tests confirmed that the concealed powder was indeed cocaine and was stashed alongside suspected repackaging materials.

"Assorted SIM cards and mobile telephone networks were also found," DCI said.

DCI said the suspect has been escorted to the Port Police Station for processing ahead of his arraignment.
