Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has maintained that he has nothing personal against Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.

Wamboka termed the matter at the House of grave concern and national importance to the nation.

He argued that the nation was staring at a catastrophe.

“Where I come from there is no maize anymore, I do not know what this government would do if Linturi was to remain, I do not know what he would tell people from Western, Rift Valley, Central and other parts because there is no food,” he stated.

He challenged the CS to be the Biblical Yohana who when the ship was sinking just because of him; opted to drop himself in the waters.

Wamboka pointed out that should the motion fail to go through it would be difficult for CS Linturi to deliver or redeem his image since Kenyans are bitter.

“Be the Biblical Yohana...not that anyone hates the person of Mithika Linturi, as I had said he is my best friend, we share the same group, so there is nothing personal,” he stated.

He said by voting to oust him from office, they are helping him and saving him from the wrath of Kenyans “because how will you serve?  How will you go to the food basket of this country Trans Nzoia and as a minister you have go? Kenyans will not allow you because they are angry, they are not happy,” he said.

Wamboka further emphasised that they support President William Ruto on his policy on food security despite their divergence in opinions politically.

The legislator was making his case before an 11-member committee which was formed by the National Assembly to probe the allegation level against Linturi.

The MP at the same clarified that the matter was not about a region or community but Linturi.

He assured the Meru people that Linturi was not being targeted as perceived but for the flaws happening at the ministry in which he heads.

“So we understand we are helping the President, it is Parliament that has sacked him, it is not the President, I know his hands may be tied,” he added.

Kenyans, he said, are suffering.
