The Kenya National Highway Authority has given an update on the situation of the bridge linking Kitengela to Mombasa Road along Namanga Road.

Earlier on, Kenha had declared the road impassable.

"We would like to inform all motorists plying Athi River-Namanga Road that the stormwater that had overtopped Kitengela Bridge has receded and traffic restored," Kenha said.

"We, however, urge motorists to be on the lookout while crossing the bridge for any possible overtopping and take necessary precautions."

The authority also gave an update about the situation along Thika Road.

"The authority has resolved to open a guard rail with a backhoe as a temporary measure to ease flooding water and restore traffic to normalcy at the Juja underpass," Kenha said in a statement on X

"While this is a temporary measure, the Authority continues to urge motorists to avoid the area if possible until the water recedes."

On Wednesday morning, some sections of Thika Superhighway were rendered impassable following heavy rains pounding the City.

Kenha said the situation had caused traffic disruptions.

"Following heavy downpour last night and continuing this morning, traffic disruptions have occurred in some sections of the Thika Superhighway as follows," Kenha said.
