Patients relying on public health services will have to wait a little longer after the Attorney General said they need 30 more days to resolve the current stalemate with striking doctors.

Appearing before Justice Byrum Ongaya, Advocate Ochieng Oduol the lead counsel for the office of the AG said they have made progress.

Oduol however said there has been a logistical issue as the Council of Governors is yet to submit figures required on minimum safety services.

He said the whole nation and reconciliation report has recommended all parties including CoG, referral hospitals, the union and other stakeholders to continue with negotiations which are peculiar to each county.

"AG is cognisant of the delicate balance required especially in the provision of medical services. We request you grant court time to continue engaging as the resolution of the matters at hand is key and fundamental," he said.

"We request for 30 more days to finalise the exercise. It's only a solution that's amicably negotiated in good faith will provide a lasting solution to a peaceful industrial environment in this sector," he added.

The matter is still proceeding with other parties making their submissions regarding the reconciliation process.
