Ruto: My global travels have shown me Kenya is special, blessed

President William Ruto has now said after travelling across the globe, he has realised that Kenya is a special and blessed nation.

Speaking during a Sunday service at A.I.C Fellowship in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County he emphasised on the responsibility that Kenyans have to make the country greater.

"After travelling across this globe, I want to tell my fellow countrymen and women that we are a special nation, we are a great nation, we are a blessed nation," he said.

"Kenya is a blessed nation. I can say that with a lot of confidence."

Ruto said it was time for all citizens to work together to make the country greater and achieve our goals as a whole.

He pointed out that everyone has a contribution to achieve the vision.

"We are witnessing the favour of God in our country as we journey as a nation," he added.

At the same time, the President revealed the plan to cut off imports and grow enough food in the country.

"Because I know when God promises to give us rain in the season it means that we should use that rain to feed ourselves and to reduce what we import from other countries," he said. 

The president had attended the service after jetting back to the country from his international visits to Ghana and Guinea Bissau.

He was in Guinea Bissau on Friday where he was hosted by President Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea Bissau.

This was after his two-day State visit to Ghana where he held talks with President Nana Akufo Addo.

In Ghana, he visited the Kwame Nkrumah Museum and Mausoleum in Accra.

Since he took reigns in September 2022, Ruto has been to more than 10 countries across the world.

Among the countries Ruto visited in 2022 are the United Kingdom for the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the United States for the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Ethiopia for the Launch of Safaricom Telecommunications and Uganda for the 60th Independence Day celebrations.

Others are Tanzania, the Democratic of Congo, South Korea and Eritrea for state visits, Egypt for the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference.

In December 2022, he went back to the US for United States–Africa Leaders' Summit 2022.

In 2023, President Ruto visited France, Senegal for the Feed Africa Summit, Burundi for the 20th Extraordinary summit of EAC heads of state, Ethiopia for the 36th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly, Germany for the 9th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue and, Belgium and Rwanda for state visits.

He also flew out to Uganda, UK, the Netherlands, Israel, South Africa, Burundi, Zambia, Djibouti, Switzerland, Comoros, Congo, Tanzania, Mozambique, Uganda, the US, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and India.

In 2024, Ruto has so far visited over nine countries among them Italy, Japan and Namibia.
