A Sh7 million ultra-modern dormitory is set to be build at Lorna Laboso Memorial Girls Secondary school. Speaking while handing over the cheque from the CDF kitty, Sotik MP Joyce Laboso said the construction will enable the school admit more girls and boost the girl-child education in the region. Laboso said the move will reduce cases of drop-outs due to early pregnancies. “We hope that when the girls stay in school, cases of early pregnancies will reduce drastically because they will not be exposed,” said the Sotik MP.

She said the construction of the dormitory will help reduce congestion in neighbouring schools. Laboso petitioned the government to hire more teachers. The school, which was build through the Economic Stimulus Programme, has been named after the late Sotik MP Lorna Laboso. One the top of his agenda during her election campaign which was later adopted by current MP, Lorna targeted improving education standards especially the girl child in the constituency.
