Narok’s order for land freeze
Narok's county commissioner has ordered the town's council to stop subdividing public land. Kassim Farah yesterday said the Narok Town Council should not tamper with the land until the National Land Commission has been constituted. The National Land Commission was created through the new constitution and it will implemented through the recently passed land Act.
The membership of the NLC is yet to be debated and approved by Parliament. Its main function will be to watch against misuse of public land. In a letter addressed to the town clerk Godfrey Kwena yesterday, Kassim said all ministries should respect the directive. “We are suspending any subdivision, alienation and purported allocations of public land as we wait for the Nation Land Commission to be constituted and activated,” said Farah.
