GOR MAHIA VS AFC LEOPARDS,

SUNDAY TOP 8

MY PREDICTION: K’OGALO 3-1 INGWE

This is a long overdue Top 8 fixture which I’m still not sure it will be played as I write this. I’m not buying AFC Leopards’ excuses not to play since most clubs in the league play with diminished finances. I’m beginning to think that Allan Wanga’s expected absence due to him attending trials abroad and injuries to some players could be the real reason why Ingwe don’t want to play this weekend. Or perhaps the real reason is that Gor Mahia under their ‘ruler’ Zdravko Logarusic are looking so unbeatable right now. I would be afraid to face Gor because they have clearly forgotten how to lose. AFC Leopards may be top of the league but going into this fixture, Gor Mahia are on top of their game! Sorry Jan, you’re a great coach and I respect you dearly, but this game is Gor’s to lose.

AZZAM VS YANGA, CECAFA FINAL

MY PREDICTION: AZAM 2-1 YANGA

Who would’ve thought? Who? This time last year it was Simba Vs Yanga facing off in the final but following the opening weekend antics, I would have expected Vita, Athletico and/or APR to be in this final. But this is why this is the beautiful game. It is so unpredictable. Its tough to believe that Azzam is a club that is just six years old and yet they are close to sitting at the summit of regional football. My point here is shame on Kenya and our ‘clubs with heritage’ that can’t perform. Tho! These two teams know each other well since Azam finished third and Yanga second in the Vodacom Tanzania League. Both clubs have Mzungu coaches and Gor and AFC have just shown us that ‘if he’s white, he’s right.’ So as Koops is battling Logarusic to find the Top 8 ‘superpower’, Sainfiet will be battling Stewart Hall. The confidence boost that Azzam got from beating their league leaders Simba in the quarters, will push them today.

KPL Pick of the week

THIKA UNITED VS SOFAPAKA

MY PREDICTION: THIKA 2-1 SOFAPAKA

This game will be interesting because Thika United are currently third in the league while Sofapaka are 5th. However, they are equal on points and Batoto Ba Mungu have a game in hand. Thika have been having a brilliant run and beating Sofapaka would solidify their position in the league. Sofapaka, however, are suffering. We all seem to think its a financial issue but Monsieur President says they do not have financial problems and that players have been paid up to date. The only other excuse then is that Salim Ali is not the man to lead them back to glory. Which is it? And while we all ponder at the reason, Thika scores! And scores again!
