Traders decry Kyuso crime
The business community at Kyuso town in Kitui has demanded the removal of OCPD Joseph Koech and DCIO David Simiyu for “sleeping on the job as the security situation in the town deteriorates.” Kyuso Market Traders Association vice chairman Syengo Kiteme said they have lost confidence in the two officers. Kieteme called a press conference at the weekend over the re-arresting of a police officer who had early last week been arrested in connection with the killing of a night guard.
The policeman who had been released in unclear circumstances was re-arrested after the public demonstrated on Friday. The weekend press conference was attended by Martin Kimwele, son of the slain night guard, Kimwele Temangwa. “People have been killed and property stolen but the police do very little investigations. Crime matters are always handled superficially,” said Kiteme.
