Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi has admitted that Central Imenti MP Gitobu Imanyara will give him stiff competition in his bid for the Meru Senator. Speaking in IImanyara background at Ruiga, Kiraitu said their relationship since 1992 when they were fighting for democracy as well as helping each other out in family matters. He said Imanyara is equally fit to lead the Merus since all that matters is in leadership is trust and dependability.

“We are not seeking the senate seat to boast around; we are looking for an opportunity to serve the people of Meru county. When we first went into politics with Imanyara we were going to fight the political oppression of former President Daniel Moi. Currently there is a lot of development oppression brought about by poverty”, said Kiraitu. He said no matter who wins the elections, priority has to be given in providing Buuri and Ntonyiri with water.
