Gor Mahia eased their way into the last sixteen of the Football Federation Presidents Cup after seeing off the spirited challenge of Borabu to win 5-2 at the Nairobi City stadium yesterday. The defending champions looked to be on course for an easy day in office once Ugandan Ivan O gave them a tenth minute lead and Kevin Omondi added a second midway through the first half but the lower league side did not stick to the script storming back into the game in the last 15 minutes of the first half.

Twice in the space of five minutes Jared Ombogi struck for the team from Nyanza to stun the crowd and go into the second half at at par with the championsZravko Logarusic’s men however were to kill any hopes of a shock win for the visitors as they re-took thelead in the 68th mintue. Strikers Edwin Lavasat and Itubu Imbem combined with the former finishing well.

The game was now swinging in Gor’s favour and further goalsd from substitue Rama Salim and Imbem ensured there was to be no upseting the order.Gor will now join AFC Leopards, Tusker, Karuturi Sports and Western Stima in the round of sixteen
