‘Approval Rating’ leaves youngsters gasping at Ngong course

“Approval Rating” of South Africa threw down a challenge to the youngsters during the Sir Ali Bin Salim Stakes race dashing to victoy by a head at the Ngong race course yesterday. Saddled by trainer Nur Nuno who was booking jockey Patrick Mungai for the fourth time, “Approval” just proved that an extra 200m was to his advantage in the middle distance races. He marks the end of a season with a treble and gets moved across the boundary to another racing adventure with trainer Nuno who leaves for Zimbabwe at the end of the month.
“Roxane” played her role well in the final series of the George Drew Challenge ensuring the strong boys did not get to her as she attempted her seventh win with complete confidence. This fine four-year old grey filly has proved to be in good chemistry with her favourite mount Jacob Lokorian who was looking for additional wins in his quest for the championship.
Despite the try after earning his first win on Gill Fraser’s trained “Boudoga” another South African, it is still Lesley Sercombe who continues to hold on to the championship with 31 wins having won on “Wirraway” who claimed the Chilli Cup. Indeed the family affair was not broken as Lesley’s mother Patsy Sercombe took the leading trainer title consecutively that had Oliver Gray in a close chase.
