Bandits kill one in Mwithika again

Bandits at the weekend gunned down a resident despite the assurance by the state that security has been restored in Mwitika. The
man was shot dead with by members of a pastoralist community as he drew
water from a well on the Engamba hills, only days after Mutitu DC asked fleeing residents to return home as peace had been restored. Since
upsurge of the brutal clashes between the locals and the invading
pastoralists that have resulted in deaths of at least five people in
Mwitika since June, about 2,000 residents have fled their homes. Last week DC James Kamau urged residents to return to their homes as security officers had successfully repulsed the bandits.
