Top Job hopefuls step up campaigns

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka intensified his campaigns telling voters that he will transform arid and semi arid areas and create a vibrant national economy if elected president. Speaking in Kajiado county, Kalonzo said his masterplan involves improving livestock production and finding market abroad for meat products.
The VP said his plan is to enhance tourism, ensure that mining and minerals benefit the locals adding that conservation of the environment will be one of his top priorities. Kalonzo urged theyouth to get national identification cards saying the Cabinet has waived the Sh 300 fee for a new ID.
“This requirement had disenfranchised many youths who could not be registered as voters or even get loans from the banks to start income generating activities,” said Kalonzo at Ilbisil primary school playing grounds in Kajiado where he addressed a public rally. He had earlier held a meeting with the school teachers.
Kalonzo once again condoled with residents of Kajiado county following the death of the Minister for Internal Security George Saitoti who represented Kajiado North constituency. The VP urged school administrations to embrace the culture of holding dialogue with their students in a bid to reduceg misunderstandings that lead to strikes and destruction of school property.
Kalonzo said the current ugly incidences of school strikes being witnessed in the country cannot be tolerated. He was accompanied by MPs Johnson Muthama (Kangundo), Silas Muriuki (Imenti North), Shakila Abdallah (Nominated), Daniel Muoki (Mwala), former Minister Mutua Katuku, and several civic leaders.
In their addresses, the leaders endorsed Kalonzo’s candidature saying his political record is impeccable and the only candidate who can ensure the country’s peace and unity among diversity. They also called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to make sure elections are free and fair.
