All the health centers in Imenti South District have created a special hospital ward to admit boda boda riders seeking treatment owing to the many accidents involving them. Area District Officer one Ms Mary Mwangi said many of the riders are involved in road accident because they flout the traffic rules with impunity leading to many casualties being admitted to hospitals. She said minor cases are admitted to Kanyakine Sub-District hospital and Nkubu Mission Hospital while severe cases are referred to the Meru Level-5 Hospital for specialized treatment.

Speaking to boda boda operators at Nkubu Social Hall in Imenti South District,Ms Mwangi urged the boda boda riders to strictly adhere to the traffic rules in order to reduce the number of accidents which occurs in the area on daily basis. "Approximately four people die every month due to road accidents in the district with Buuri district leading with six, Imenti Central one while Imenti North has none," said Ms Mwangi. She said apart from accidents many riders are also admitted in hospitals suffering from other ailments especially those associated with cold because majority do not wear protective gears as per the law.
