Rift Valley’s Tartar face St. John’s in girls football final
Kaloleni’s St. John’s will face Rift Valley’s Tartar after they eliminated their opponents in their respective girls football semi-finals at national secondary schools Term 2 “B” games at Shimo La Tewa yesterday. St. John’s beat Nairobi’s Olympic 1-0 to reach final while Tartar eliminated Nyanza’s Kobala 3-1 in their semi-final match. St. John’s coached by Joseph Oyoo and captained by Rehema Mwachiro, immediately reverted to defensive play after scoring their lone goal against the city girls. Rachael Luvuno scored the lone goal for the coastal side in the 19th minute.
Olympic side were spotted shedding tears across the Shanzu TTC fence after the defeat. Tartar on their part opened the score sheet barely five minutes into the game through a Ruth Chebungei but Kobala equalised ten minutes later through striker Nancy Juma. The two sides went into the break deadlocked 1-1.
However, the Rift Valley queens came into the second half a rejuvenated side after half time pep talk with Neddy Atieno driving them into the lead 10 minutes into the half. In the 69th minute, Nancy Ejulu was on the mark again with the third goal. Tartar and St John’s Girls play this morning at Shanzu TTC.
